The Tiris radio-tag system designed by Texas instruments (the plug-in unit top left of my PCB) is the Tiris receiver/transmitter that had what I considered to be a massively complicated set of protocols. So I set out to make a pcb sub-system that would tame all of that and have simple transmit, receive codes that a PC could send to this my board. 99% of the time that is all that is needed, so a huge overhead of protocol was irritating. Plug this board into a PC and send a simple code for transmit and some data too and the job is done, the radio tag then has new data. Similarly, send the code for receive and the radio tag is interrogated for the data it holds and that is sent on to the PC. Nice and simple but I had to learn all the nasty protocol to do it!
