BACK TO NCR

On the left is a 433MHz receiver unit that was connected to a PC. I designed it to be as general purpose as possible, so it could be used in any future project that required a short-range radio data link. The little black chip near the front is a programmable PIC processor that could be re-programmed to suit different projects. The ciruit board on the right is a generalised radio transmitter that is similarly programmable to suit future projects. I designed the system to sense occupancy of chairs around a table. Each chair would have a transmitter and they would all transmit to a single receiver. The transmitters would each have a unique code and would send their signals approximately once every ten seconds. If there was a clash of simultaneous transmissions the receiver would ignore the event and await the next singular clear signal. Along with their ID codes the transmitters would send a code denoting occupancy or no occupancy. It was a subsystem for a much larger project.
