A Joint Project with Mark Bullimore
EDITS REQUIRED HERE
Mark is a top-flight design engineer and artist who works in special effects in the film industry. He asked me if I could design the electronics for a robot arm that he was going to make for installation at a convention at The Barbican Centre in London. The arm had to be made to perform a prescribed set of movements when a sensor was triggered. It had two large motors to control swing and the elbow joint, one smaller motor to rotate the wrist and a further motor to control finger grip. It was a piece of intallation art. My task was to design an electronic system to connect to his four motors and perform the prescribed movements. After designing and making the electronics hardware, I wrote the control software and programmed it into the microcontroller that then controlled and sequenced the system.
